j crew-y winter skirt

Happy Monday, friends. If you are a US reader, I hope your Thanksgiving was full of pie (and minus the terrible flu that’s been plaguing us around here). Actually, even if you aren’t a US reader, I hope your weekend was full of pie and minus the flu.

We are s-l-o-w-l-y starting to get back in the swing of things around here- my office/studio/craft room is nearly unpacked and Christmas-presents-in-the-making are strewn about (can’t wait to show you what I’m making). We even have a guest post lined up for this week, a house update in the works, and a fun project to show you today (like I said, getting back in the swing of things).

Last Spring, my sister-in-law asked me to make her a J Crew-y skirt. It is finally done.ย  Though, since Tricia is 8 months pregnant, she isn’t really able to wear it yet.

In the meantime, I asked our cute sister Kedron if she’d model the skirt for me.

Photoshoots with that girl are always an adventure-a hilarious adventure.

And the skirt is pretty cute too- not as cute as my sister, but pretty cute.

I think I took pictures along the way as I made it- I started it awhile ago. I will try to dig those up (and remember what I did!) so I can put together a tutorial. It’s too cute (in that classic, J Crew way) not to share.

Your JCrewy skirt really inspired me. Is that leather piping????

      Hey Faye- thanks!
And it’s a faux placet (sp?) in front- no piping required! I think Katy has a faux placet tutorial at No Big Dill if you’re needing one. ๐Ÿ™‚

Not familiar with a faux placet so thanks for the tutorial info. I will check it out immediately.

Thanks for the skirt compliments- I love J Crew (just can’t afford to shop there unless it’s quite the sale). ๐Ÿ™‚
And I’ve thought of you several times looking at the exposed brick… between the cabinets and the kitchen flooring both going in (not in, but going in), it is starting to look like a house. So fun. ๐Ÿ™‚ I need to go take some pics, actually… ๐Ÿ™‚

Christina, I wish you could’ve been here too- the more the merrier. That girl makes me laugh so much- haha. Thanks for the kind words about the skirt!

Oh. Man. So amazing. You’re right, everything by JC is so classy and adorable and beautiful, and this is right up that alley. Great job!! And Kedron is totally rocking it. She’d better watch out, she’s got “style blog” written all over her with that beauty and those poses. ๐Ÿ™‚
