pink salty dog cocktail/mocktail recipe

Tomorrow I have some fabulously nautical pictures to share with you of Piper Jane’s First Birthday Party! But today (while I sift through pictures), I thought I’d share one last summer-y drink recipe. If you love grapefruits, or need a drink that’s refreshment in a glass, this is the one for you!

Mostly tart with a dash of sweet, and equally fabulous as a mocktail, this was our Cocktails and Mocktails entry this year.

1/2 cup freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
1 T grenadine
1 T Rose’s sweetened lime juice
1 T Just Cranberry juice
1 cup ice
2 T vodka (optional)
coarse salt for rimming

Pour grapefruit juice, grenadine, lime juice, cranberry juice and vodka (for the grown-ups only version) into the pitcher of a blender. Add ice (we used Sonic ice- I’m sure it made all the difference- haha!). Blend well.

Dip the rim of your glass in grapefruit juice, then into coarse salt.

Pour frozen, blended concoction into the rimmed glass. Ahhhh. Glorious, no?

*If you’re serving pitchers of this over the course of the evening (like we were), freeze up some grapefruit juice ice cubes to use in your blending. That way, as the ice melts, it isn’t watering down the drink.
