vintage vail

 burke’s first gondola ride

When we were dating, Adam and I bonded over our common love of skiing (I like to think that my ability to keep up with him and his friends on a ski trip to Breckenridge is on his list of ‘why I married that girl’- haha!). We can. not. wait. for future family ski days and have our fingers crossed that Burke and Piper Jane will share our love for tree trails, fresh powder and sipping cocoa in the lodge (it never tastes better).

A retro ski vest, then, was the obvious choice for Vintage Week at Project Run and Play. Top it off with a pom pom ski hat and Burke’s Vintage Vail look is complete.

I love the retro vibe of the camel colored corduroy, the pearl snaps, and the striped insets. The vest is slightly puffer-esque, cinches in at the bottom and is lined with sweatshirt fleece for an extra cozy finishing touch.

The ski hat is made from a felted sweater and topped off with giant, fluffy, pom-pom-y fabulousness.

Perhaps the best part of this little sewing endeavor is that Burke loves (like love. love. LOVES)his new duds. Comfy, loveable, vintage-y slopeside goodness that my toddler actually likes? Yes please.

Oh, and of course, if you have a minute, head on over to Project Run and Play and vote!

I totally had a hat like that in the 70's! Love it! I love the whole look. Too bad I couldn't ski if my life depended on it!
