using an old door as a favor display

When Adam and I were remodeling an old house a couple years ago, we changed one of the formerly doored off stairwells into more of a ‘pass through’ arch… which left us with an extra 100 year old door (albeit in pretty rough, painted over condition). Though I have some grand plans for the door involving some aqua spray paint, salvaged baluster spindles, the door, and my husband’s power tools transforming it into a fabulous coffee table, it hasn’t quite had it’s makeover yet. That means I get to find other great uses for this old door in the meantime… including using it as a favor display for parties!

Here’s the great news in all of this- at the architectural salvage store in Denver, I see old doors all the time, and for really cheap (like under twenty bucks cheap). Whether you share my grand plans for an old-door-into-a-coffee-table masterpiece, or just need a terrific favor display, it’s worth a trip to your local salvage place!

Anyhow, to use a door as a favor display-
1. Get an old door.
2. Cover weird parts (like holes that shouldn’t be there) with your ‘favors’ sign.
3. Hang your favors on the door with upholstery tacks.
4. Prop your door against the garden fence as a favor display.

I love old doors. I have two currently sitting in my basement that I rescued from the house that my grandfather bought in 1904 and my dad grew up in. The house was being remodeled a couple of years ago and my dad thought I was crazy for asking for the doors but there's history in those doors! Thanks for the idea! I may have to dig one of those doors out for our next party.

Very creative thinking! My mom has an old door in her barn that is crackling – it's gorgeous! Might need to dig it out ๐Ÿ™‚

Another cute way to use a door.

I started a new KNOCK OFF KNOCK OUT party and I bet you have some things to put in the party-it's every Monday. I hope you come over and become a follower and subscribe and I will do the same.
