(A step by step tutorial for the most beautiful floral collar- can be used like a necklace or just take a basic shirt or dress to next level pretty).

the prettiest felt flower collar necklace- and how to make one!Ohmygoodness, I love this felt floral collar necklace so much y’all.

It’s kind of perfect for right now (it’d make a GREAT Christmas DIY, but also, it’s spring here in New Zealand and I am here for it)!

the prettiest felt flower collar necklace- and how to make one!It is the quintessential accessory- it can be paired with anything from a more formal dress to a more basic shirt (Pi has a couple sequined Joyfolie collars that she loves, and with both those and this floral collar, she often wears them like a necklace!).

To make this floral collar/necklace-

the prettiest felt flower collar necklace- and how to make one!Make a basic linen collar- I traced one of the collars Piper already has, but I took a picture for y’all on a standard piece of paper for reference in case you don’t have a collar on hand to trace (the top and the bottom of the collar I traced were just a bit bigger than the 8.5″ x 11″ paper). Cut out two linen collar shapes and place right sides together (make sure to add ribbons or lace trim on the front two corners [this will be the collar closure- just sandwich between the two collar pieces before sewing them together], and then sew around the perimeter, leaving a few inches to turn right side in). Turn right side in, press and stitch the opening closed.

Also, make a pile of small felt flowers (I wanted mine to look like the gorgeous Rifle Paper Co. flowers, and used these felt flower making techniques). Also, make a few leaves (I added lines of stitching on the leaves to add texture).

the prettiest felt flower collar necklace- and how to make one!Cut out light green felt circles to match the base of each of your flowers. Lay out the flowers and leaves in a cluster. When they are arranged in a way that you like, position the green ‘base’ circles to match the layout, pin in place, and stitch in place (stitching the leaves in place at the same time). Then hot glue the flowers onto their bases.

the prettiest felt flower collar necklace- and how to make one!Pair this loveliness with everything in your daughter’s closet! (If you’re already making a pile of felt flowers, maybe make a purse with interchangeable accessories as well- those two lovelies were made for each other!)
