how to put together an advent calendar in 30 minutes (you just need small paper bags, these free printable labels, a tray and treats to fill the bags)

It’s a little bittersweet to head into this holiday season without any of our normal ‘Christmas stuff.’ I do think that unpacking familiar boxes of ornaments, wreaths, and décor might help offset a little of the weirdness and homesickness that is settling in. But I also kind of like the way that having nothing is giving us the chance to really evaluate which holiday traditions we want to keep around. And so far, we’ve decided make Advent Ornaments (those are in the works) and an Advent calendar countdown.

the simplest-ever advent calendar (make a countdown using bags, free printable labels, and a tray)However, being a bit low on both access to supplies and days until December means that this year’s advent calendar needed to be extra (extra!) low maintenance.

I know most of you aren’t starting from scratch like we are, but perhaps a printable advent calendar is just what you’re needing anyway. This little gem only takes about half and hour to put together.
simple advent calendar countdown (so easy to put together- just paper bags, these free printable labels, and a tray)I mentioned this a couple years ago, but in order to keep December from completely swallowing me up, I add all sorts of extra simple things, and things we’d do anyway, to our advent countdown. This year I also swapped out our traditional daily goodies for fruit leather and fruit ropes (trying to cut down on extra sugar wherever I can).
