best birthday month ever!

December 7, 2010

I think I’ve mentioned once or twice that I am totally a ‘small gifts’ type of girl. It’s not that I don’t like big gifts, I do. However, I get just about as excited about getting a big present (like new skis) as I do about getting my favorite mint lip gloss from Bath and Bodyworks. Hence my love for stockings- and the whole PILE of little gifts within.

With this in mind, for my 30th birthday last week, my sweet sisters and husband put together the most fabulous Birthday Month EVER (yep, you read right, birthday month).

They coordinated 30 people to each cover one day of the month leading up to my birthday and called it “30 Days of Love.” Starting a month before my birthday, every day I got a little gift and a note from one of my friends or family members (even my brother and brother-in-laws each had a day- it was so sweet to see what they picked out for me!). They also sent me the little note above so I’d understand why I was getting notes and presents every day. Genius, right?

I have to tell y’all, not only do I feel so loved, I scored some awesome loot as well, all in the ‘small gifts’ category… There was fabric and a stack of patterns and jewelry and the coolest handmade apron and crafting/baking supplies and slippers and makeup and etsy buys and a ruffled scarf and a whole pile of gifts cards for places I LOVE. What could be better? I took pictures of just some of the goodness to share with y’all- so fun, right? So far, I am loving this new decade of life! ๐Ÿ™‚

ps- If you have any ‘small gifts’ people in your life, I would highly recommend stealing this idea! I loved it so much that I think I’m going to try to make it a ‘turning 30’ family-tradition.

ppss- Pretty sure that little family picture at the top doesn’t have anything to do with my birthday. But Jordi took pictures of us over Thanksgiving and I love them. She always makes me look cuter than I really am. I like that about her pictures. ๐Ÿ™‚

Wow. Now that is a fabulous idea! Too bad my 30th has past. I'll have to hint at that idea for my 40th in 8 years! : ) Ha. You sure have some special people in your life! How amazing. And that family picture is incredible! And I am pretty sure it's not just the picture, you really are that cute! : )

    First of all, Happy Birthday!!!

Second, I wish I had an awesome birthday like that! I was a couple weeks away from having my daughter when I turned 30, so I was feeling a little on the fat side! So to make it better, I called her my belated birthday gift and she's Jeff's early birthday gift since she was born a week before his birthday.

Anyway, looks like an awesome time and I'm stealing this for my sisters' birthdays when the time comes! Thanks for the wonderful idea!!!

That is seriously the best birthday idea EVER. Ever. You have such a great family. We are the same age too…I turne 30 in February. Kind of fun. Love that family picture at the time. It made me happy right away. You have such a cute family. I have been so busy the past 2-3 weeks I have hardly checked blogs. I feel like I have been away from friends. Silly, but true. I am so glad you were spoiled for your birthday! Happy be-lated birthday!

What a great idea. You have such an awesome group of family and friends. Happy Birthday! As a mom I agree…I am definitely a small gift type person.

And can I say…Your comment from yesterday is still lifting my spirits. You are such a genuine person. Your projects are inspiring. I would never think you had the "didn't turn out how I wanted" blues for anything unless you said something.

    Just thank you…again. ๐Ÿ™‚
