DIY wooden mountains

easy DIY wooden mountains

easy DIY wooden mountainsI pulled these DIY wooden mountains down from Bohden’s nursery to use as décor for his bear birthday party. And then we used them for a sweet friend’s mountain-y bridal shower. And then we put them up as décor on the mantel for a Woodlands-y baby shower.

easy DIY wooden mountainsAt all three of these parties, people kept picking these mountains up and looking at the way we made them and noting how great they’d be for everyfriendtheyknow that loves Colorado/mountains. And they’re right!

easy DIY wooden mountainsEven better- these mountains were so very easy to make. Adam grabbed some leftover plywood and cut three heights of triangles (11” tall for the big mountains, 8” tall for the medium mountains, and 5” tall for the little mountains). The triangles don’t have to be especially perfect- in fact the set looks better if they aren’t (though, if I were just giving one single mountain to a friend, I’d probably lean toward equilateral-ish triangle sides).

easy DIY wooden mountainsAfter the wooden triangles were cut and the edges sanded, I freehand painted a white ‘snowline’ at the top of each and then filled in the ‘snowcap’ with white paint (you can wrap the white paint around the wooden edges like I did, or just leave the paint on the face of the ‘mountain’).

easy DIY wooden mountainsI made a whole pile of these wooden mountains for Bohden’s room (which has been convenient for party décor), but you could easily just make one for a friend as a nod to their mountain-love. Wouldn’t these make a great Christmas (or birthday) gift for a mountain-loving friend???

DIY pom pom garland

how to make a pom pom garland

I get questions about how I made the pom pom garland from the Sprinkle Party all the time. It isn’t tricky to put together, but I thought I’d put together a quick step by step to answer all of the questions. To make one, make a pile of pom poms (you guys know how I […]

evie’s ‘bow-tique’ birthday party

bowtique party

The timing of our trip to visit Jordan and her family was perfect- we arrived the night before Evie’s third birthday and got to be there for her birthday party (lucky us!). Evie’s bow themed birthday party was inspired by her love of Minnie Mouse’s “Bow-tique.” MENU All of Evie’s favorite foods made their way […]

farmer’s market birthday party

Our Littlest Miss, Evie Kate, is turning two this month. Of course, a Happy Second Birthday Party was an order. Evie’s very favorite thing is our local grocery store (in the middleeast), “Lulu’s.” And since birthday parties are the perfect chance to celebrate the affections of the teeniest guest of honor, ‘market party’ became our […]

bicycle birthday party (in aqua, red and pink)

bicycle themed birthday party

Both Burke and Piper Jane adore our friend from church, Miss Hazel (they tell me a hundred times a day, “Baby Hazel so cu-ute!”). And I love Hazel’s mama, Liz (of retro garden baby shower fame- she was the mama-to-be). So helping Liz put together Hazel’s bicycle birthday party was a super fun joint venture! […]

how to make confetti filled ‘sprinkle’ balloons

how to makec confetti filled balloons

Guys, your response to the sprinkle party has been overwhelming- sprinkles resonate with you apparently. I get that- they resonate with me too. And, bonus, Piper Jane is totally famous on pinterest right now. I keep getting questions about how to make the confetti filled balloons. They were super easy (seriously, SUPER easy), so I […]

sprinkled with love birthday party

We laughed when Piper Jane asked for a “Sprinkle” themed birthday party. Her sweet tooth is renowned in these parts (second only to her mama’s), so a sprinkle party is perfectly suited for the Little Miss Priss’ second birthday celebration. Decked out in some sprinkle accessories- a sprinkle barrette and sprinkle corsage- the birthday girl […]

hyatti- let the celebrations begin!

Right now my house is a fun, crazy, party-planning head quarters. Over the next 6 weeks we have a party or shower every weekend. I love it! This weekend we had a little pinata party for our friend, Joey who turned 5 this month. My favorite parts of the party? The mini pinata favors: (we used […]
