DIY kindness Christmas advent calendar (free printables)
DIY kindness Christmas advent calendar (free printables)

I’ve shouted from the mountaintops about my love for advent calendars for YEARS. And then I moved to New Zealand and *needed* a new one! So we tried something new last year- a Kindness Advent (an act of kindness for each day of December).

DIY kindness Christmas advent calendar (free printables)

This advent calendar looked great, and was so much fun to put together, and gave the whole month of December an extra spin of ‘kindness’ and gratitude (LOVE!).

Even better- I thought I’d share how to, and the printables for the kindness advent.

The twenty-five kindness activites we chose were:

1- Teacher treats and gifts

2- Neighbor treats

3- Send gifts to former foster kids’ families

4- Ornament delivery

5- Share candy canes

6- Send gifts to someone who has had a hard year

7- Happy post-it notes on bathroom mirrors

8- Candy canes on cars

9- Help a foster family

10- Day of genuine compliments

11- Surprise a friend

12- Return trolleys at the supermarket

13- Treats for the school staff

14- Treats for the firestation

15- Treat delivery

16- Paint rocks and hide them

17- Hold the door for shoppers

18- Leave change at the laundromat

19- Load bubble gum machines with change

20- Help the neighbors with their rubbish bins

21- Pay for someone’s coffee

22- Make bookmarks for the library

23- Surprise chalk art

24- Goodies for the postman (they call them ‘posties’ here)

25- Neighbor treats

*If you need other kindness advent ideas, there are so many on this blog. I left one page of the printables blank for you to add your own ideas!

To make the advent calendar- collect twenty five favor bags and fill each one with Christmas treats and one act of kindness. Add floral numbers (I traced them onto Rifle Paper Co. wrapping paper, cut them out, and glued them to each paper bag). Then add a pom pom tie on each paper bag. Kindness Advent = DONE!

DIY grill rubs (with free printable spice packets)

DIY grill rubs for Father's Day (with FREE printable)

These DIY grill rubs are the perfect present to mix up for Father’s Day (or any other guy-gifting occasion). I might’ve mentioned once or twice that Adam is not the *easiest* person to buy/make presents for. But years ago, I made DIY grill rubs from some spice mix recipes here on the blog and they […]

free printable mother's day cards

Printable Mother’s Day cards for all the moms/grandma’s/moms-to-be/lovely women you know I have lived an ocean away from at least part of my family for the last fifteen years, but I’ve NEVER felt quite so far away, and quite so homesick, as I have during the corona-crazy (closed borders and cancelled summer trips to the […]

teacher appreciation gift printables

free teacher appreciation printables

I have such a special place in my heart for teachers. Not only did I used to be one (and thus know just how challenging AND rewarding that job can be), we also have somehow lucked out with a running streak of awesome teachers for the kids. I hope they know they’re appreciated all year […]

free striped halloween treat labels

free printable treat labels

A fabulous folded favor box plus a stripe-y “No tricks, just treats” label equals a super simple (and equally fun) Halloween project! We shared these semi-homemade (storebought with a handmade twist) treat bags at eighteen twenty five during their Spooktacular series and thought we’d share them here as well! To make them, fold parchment favor bags (I […]

free printable valentines- “let’s build” lego bag labels

printable lego bag valentines

This is Burke’s number one hobby, translated into Valentine form. He was over the moon to gather little packets of Lego’s for all of his friends! If any of you have little Lego lovers, these printable valentines might just be the one for them as well. Just print the lego bag toppers and tape/staple to the […]

free valentine printable “I love you more than candy”

free printable valentine candy label

Despite my mom’s very best efforts to the contrary, I have a serious sweet tooth… so, saying “I love you more than candy,” is quite the high compliment coming from me. But Valentine’s Day is the perfect time for grand statements- including this one! Use a little washi tape to attach these free “I love […]

free printable gift card envelope

faux bois free printable gift card holder

December is nuts around here (for you too?)! No matter how much advance planning I do, or how early start of a start I get, there is always a little bit of December chaos. One of my favorite holiday-simplifiers is having gift cards on hand, just in case (and sometimes as my first choice- at […]

thanksgiving leftover station (with free printable leftover labels)

thanksgiving leftover station

Thanksgiving- the grand Holiday-of-Food-and-Family- is pretty much one of the best days of the year. Family and friends paired with pie, turkey, sweet potato casserole and more pie is kind of an unbeatable combo. Unless, that is, you figure out a way to extend the goodness of Thanksgiving past Thursday evening. Yes, I am suggesting a […]
