fall snack mix- pumpkin munch recipe

fall snack mix- pumpkin munch (or scarecrow crunch or monster mix!)

This fall themed make-your-own snack mix was such a hit at our Halloween Party that I thought I’d put the recipe on here (ok, recipe seems a bit much… how to? DIY? Idea? Not sure what to call it?).

We call this fall snack mix “Pumpkin Munch,” but I know other people who call it “Scarecrow Crunch” or “Monster Mix” and I’m sure it goes by other names as well. “Fall Snack Mix” seems the most generic, but also the least fun- haha!

Anyway, how to make Pumpkin Munch Fall Snack Mix–

halloween party food ideas- fall trail mix pumpkin munch

Gather a pile of snack mix staples! Ideas include-

Candy corns

Pumpkin candy corns

Pretzel (pretzel discs, pretzel sticks, twisted pretzels, flavored pretzels)

Marshmallows (sometimes there are pumpkin marshmallows)

Reese’s pumpkins or other pumpkin shaped treats

Popcorn

Cereal (I used Smacks, but you could also use Chex, Puffed Wheat, Kix, etc.)

M&Ms (I used mini M&Ms, but any flavor or size would do… it’d be fun to put the pumpkin spice M&Ms in here!)

Reese’s Pieces (the colors are perfect!)

Bugles

Muddy Buddies

You could also add nuts to this lineup if you’re making this for a nut-tolerant crew!

On a round platter or tray, place a bowl in the center and then fan each of the ingredients out from the center in a wedge. Toss a little handful of each ingredient into the center to make an ‘sample mix.’ Add scoops and tongs and you’re done!

We left out little takeaway containers so that people could take their own custom Pumpkin Munch home with them as well.

What a fun fall treat (and a great addition to any Halloween Party or fall event)!

DIY pumpkin vases

A couple years ago, (ok, I just looked at the date, and it was EIGHT years ago, y’all- how have we even been blogging that long!?!) we had an excess of pumpkins, and some fun hostessing to do, and we made a whole line of pumpkin vases! I have used the “pumpkin vase” trick almost […]

how to put together a warm beverage station

DIY warm beverage station (coffee, cocoa, tea, etc.)

Now I know I’ve already mentioned that you need to add a Pie Bar to your lineup for Thanksgiving greatness. And I know this is another thing. And it’s Thanksgiving (not exactly the lowest maintenance holiday in the world). But guys. You NEED this. And you can put it together in advance, with zero work […]

caramel apple cider recipe

caramel apple cider recipe

This first far-far-away-from-home holiday season has been, well, a little hard to describe, actually. It’s been homesick, and quiet, and far, and tropical (which is both amazing for this summer-loving mama and also more than a bit weird since we’re used to a Rocky Mountain fall), and a little more homesick. In fact, usually Thanksgiving […]

homemade apple butter (with a free printable label!)

homemade apple butter (and a free printable!)

It’s hard to believe that it has been a whole year since I was traveling to Idaho in the fall (so gorgeous!) to visit our youngest sister and meet my niece, Adi. Northern Idaho is so beautiful in October- one of my favorite things we did while I was visiting (other than serious cuddle time […]

faking fall in the tropics

faking fall in the tropics- making fall food while it's 90 degrees out

Pinterest is pretty much killing me right now, y’all. Fall is not even my favorite season (summer all the way!), but seeing the world of boots, sweaters, crunchy leaves and pumpkin-everything from afar without the chance to experience any of it has been harder than I anticipated. So we are following Jordan’s lead and faking […]

woodland pie party (with a fabulous pie bar!)

What better way to ring in fall than with a pie party (complete with a pie-tasting buffet of course).

For how much we love pie during the summer (which is a lot… because, strawberry plus rhubarb), fall seems to waken a pie monster around here that Requires Pie. And More Pie. Pair the Pie Monster with the fact that there is this magical-woodland park here in Saipan and, really, it was only a matter […]

pumpkin dip recipe

pumpkin pie dip recipe

After I shared our Apple Sampler, several of you requested the Pumpkin Dip recipe. I had a little teeny bit left over, but I decided to take one for the team and whip up another batch. My family also decided to take one for the team and eat another batch (and wanted me to pass […]

a leprechaun, a rainbow and a pot of gold.

Just like Burke, Keadryn loves brainstorming and coming up with party ideas, craft projects and costumes. This year she is the genius behind the halloween costumes: rainbow, pot of gold, and the sassiest leprechaun you ever did see. We took a pretty simple no-sew route this year. Can I just tell you how much I […]
