cookie exchange idea- orange drop cookies

orange drop cookies (a not-chocolate cookie exchange option!)
orange drop cookies (a not-chocolate cookie exchange option!)

(Orange drop cookies are the perfect not-chocolate-chip holiday treat and my go-to recipe for holiday cookie exchanges!)

So Cookie Exchange Parties are not really a thing in New Zealand, but I’m thinking about hosting one this year.

orange drop cookies (a not-chocolate cookie exchange option!)

When we lived in Colorado, we went to my mother-in-laws cookie party every year and LOVED trading yummies and then having a whole smorgasbord of holiday treats leading up to Christmas.

I love making my mama’s fudge recipe for cookie exchanges! And I also feel like Cookie Exchange parties are the perfect opportunity to make not-chocolate-chip cookies (which admittedly, is 75% of my baking- and that number would be way higher if we weren’t on such a rhubarb crumble/banana bread kick).

These Orange Drop Cookies are the PERFECT solution.

A friend brought them to a baby shower years ago and they are still so high on my list- totally Cookie Exchange recipe material!

guy gift idea- frozen cookie dough

homemade frozen cookie dough (guy gift idea!)

I am going to let y’all in on a little secret- I give Adam homemade frozen cookie dough for *almost* every holiday (birthday, anniversary, Valentine’s Day, Father’s Day- cookie dough for all!). Since it is the biggest hit ever with Adam, I tucked a ‘tube’ of frozen cookie dough into a birthday gift for one […]

sunrise rice krispy treats

how to make tri-color layered rice krispy treats

One of the highlights of the sunrise colored dessert grazing platter were these sunrise colored rice krispy treats. (Fun fact- in New Zealand- this treat is called “Rice Bubble Slice.”) They are super simple to make- basically make three batches of rice krispy treats (using yellow marshmallows for the first batch, orange marshmallows for the […]

gorgeous dessert grazing platter (in ombre sunrise colors)

sunrise palette dessert grazing platter

Grazing platters and grazing tables are an idea I can really get behind- I love ‘snack-y’ foods and dips and these platters just seem like bigger scale charcuterie boards. But dessert grazing platters? Those deserve my next-level affection. A gorgeous tray filled with a huge variety of bite sized desserts and treats? Um, yes please. […]

harry potter party- how to make mandrake cupcakes

harry_potter_party-how_to_make_mandrake_cupcakes

Y’all. It’s been forever since I put together a post, and even longer since I did a full kojo party. But last weekend we hosted the most epic of all the Harry Potter parties and it must (MUST!) be shared. I will be honest- putting this party together was a little like plunging back in […]

how to make the BEST decorated sugar cookies (tips from a pro!)

After you’ve created the perfect sugar cookies (see this post!) and added the ‘base’ icing, it’s time to DECORATE! Because I know first hand that making sugar cookies look beautiful and festive is harder than it looks, I’ve recruited Jordan, the sugar cookie master, to share all her pro sugar cookie decorating tips. Jord’s Sugar […]

how to make the BEST decorated sugar cookies (tips from a pro!)

(how to make the BEST decorated sugar cookies- tips from a pro!) I love this time of the year, with all of the holiday things on the horizon- thanksgiving hostessing, favorite food making, Christmas gift brainstorming, advent planning, and so much treat baking. One of Jordan’s family’s Christmas traditions is sugar cookie making and decorating, […]

celebration pancakes (“crazy cakes”)

The perfect pancakes for a big (dessert) celebration (aka "crazy cakes")... a stack of rainbow pancakes with a pile of wild toppings!

Once upon a time, when we lived in Saipan and popped over to Seoul a couple times a year for long weekend in the city, Burke and Pi (ok, and also their mama) were super into Crazy Shakes. There was an O Shakes in Seoul near several of our go-to restaurants and we loved trying […]

edible christmas gift idea- gourmet cookie dough

gourmet cookie dough recipe and edible Christmas gift ideas

I may or may not have been *slightly* late to the game in figuring out that I need gifts for all of the wonderful people that work at Adam’s office. And then I may or may not have spent an afternoon weekend perusing pinterest and all sorts of old blog recipes trying to figure out the […]
