DIY J Crew inspired corsage shirt

how to make a J Crew-y corsage shirt

how to make a J Crew inspired corsage shirtHave you seen these sweet corsage shirts?

how to make a J Crew-y corsage shirtJ Crew always has a darling variety, but I’ve seen them floating around at Mini Boden and Gap as well.

DIY J. Crew-y corsage shirtThey feel especially apropos with Spring right around the corner (I should note that the first flower spotting of Spring in Denver was always a huge boost of morale for this warm-weather-loving-girl… and also that I pretty much love skipping winter).

how to make a J Crew-y corsage shirtAnyhow, this shirt was a breeze to put together- plain t-shirt (from Crewcuts- I love their plain tees) plus a pile of chiffon and tulle circles and a pretty bead or button.

how to make a corsage shirtAfter fringing the edges of the fabric circles, stack them up, place the bead or button in the center, and hand sew onto the neckline of a plain shirt.

DIY corsage shirtTen minutes later you have a fabulously Spring-ish corsage shirt!

how to make polka dotted skinnies

DIY polka dotted skinnies (both super cute and SO easy to make!)

I have a thing for polka dots. And skinny jeans. So when I started seeing polka dotted skinnies by Mini Boden and J Crew, I was totally smitten. They aren’t the most practical purchase, given our tropical island home. But I brought a couple pairs of skinny jeans for Piper when we moved and figured […]

DIY sequined collar t-shirt (a j crew knock off)

DIY sparkle collar shirt (a J Crew knock off)

Facebook and Instagram have been abuzz this week with Back to School pictures! While we aren’t quite there yet (Burke and Piper Jane’s preschool starts next week), I have been busy buying school supplies (true confession- mostly for me!) and readying wardrobes. Burke is pretty much set (thanks Alphabet Collection), so I have been focusing […]

DIY polka dot cork letters

DIY polka dotted cork letters

Friends, things have been c-razy around here- a self induced chaos, entirely my own fault, but crazy just the same. Between launching Shiny Happy Sprinkles, getting ready for a couple of upcoming trips (including a little trip to Thanksgiving Point for SNAP– will I see any of you there?), and a full que of projects […]

copper barn light ikea hack

copper barn light IKEA hack

I have this special talent for finding and falling in love with expensive things. I have a knack for it, really- if you need someone to come with you to a store to pinpoint the most expensive item (with price tags hidden, of course), I am your girl. Strangely, I haven’t found much use for […]

j crew-y winter skirt

J Crew-y skirt

Happy Monday, friends. If you are a US reader, I hope your Thanksgiving was full of pie (and minus the terrible flu that’s been plaguing us around here). Actually, even if you aren’t a US reader, I hope your weekend was full of pie and minus the flu. We are s-l-o-w-l-y starting to get back […]

huggie pillow tutorial (land of nod knock off)

huggie throw pillow tutorial (land of nod knock off)

Today’s project is an oldie but a goodie (oldie as in I-made-it-in-January-but-haven’t-shared-the-tutorial-yet). I shared the tutorial over at Family Ever After for Rach’s Sew-lebrity series (sidenote, real sew-lebrities don’t have to sew with the sewing machine manual in their lap and You Tube on their sewing table… but it was so fun to be […]

the oasis dress- a tutorial

anthropologie inspired dress tutorial

Hey friends! As we wrap up Sewing for ME!, I thought I’d share the Oasis Dress tutorial over here as well (it was on Kelly’s blog a couple weeks ago). I made this dress for Jordan, but looking through the pictures makes me want to whip one up for myself as well… When we saw […]

DIY reclaimed wood coffee and side tables

reclaimed wood tables

I have to tell you- there is an ongoing battle in my life between the neatfreak voice in my head and the clutter that is constantly threatening to take over my house. However, in my living room (which is currently getting a bit of a makeover), I am determined to fight the clutter. And so […]
