the miss matilda dress- the cottage mama pattern tour

the miss matilda dress, the cottage mama pattern tourAfter a season of seriously neglecting my sewing machine, it has been running non-stop lately! I can’t wait to share some of what I’ve been making, and today’s Miss Matilda dress for the Cottage Mama Pattern Tour is quite the kick off.

miss matilda dress for the cottage mama pattern tourI have mentioned before that I adore Lindsay (the Cottage Mama) and her patterns and this one is no exception. Isn’t this dress fabulous?

miss matilda dressThere are tons of customization options (dress or tunic length, ruffles or no ruffles, buttons or snaps) and you can get the pattern in both PDF format (instant gratification!) or paper (no taping!). Both are available at The Cottage Mama shop.

cottage mama pattern tourThe best part of this dress is that Piper Jane is absolutely adores it (and she’s pretty particular). In fact, the color blocking on the bottom is my own addition, not part of the pattern itself, because Pi was so adamant about using the purple fabric (which I didn’t have enough of, of course).

miss matilda dress- cottage mama pattern tourAs soon as Piper saw it, she declared it to be her “first day of preschool dress,” which, of course, is the highest honor that a soon-to-be-three-year-old can give.

miss matilda dress- the cottage mama pattern tourLast time I made a dress for her, she was less than thrilled (because it wasn’t pink). The I-love-it-I-love-it-I-love-it response is so. much. more. fun! And, apparently, even the classic styling and sweet details can’t contain the sass.

Be sure to check out more Cottage Mama Pattern Tour goodness at these lovely blogs-

ps- Lindsay’s book, ‘Sew Classic Clothes for Girls: 20 Dresses, Outfits, and Accessories from The Cottage Mama’ will be available October 7- mark your calendars!

WHAT!?! Yes- email! I’d love to see you, even if just for coffee. ๐Ÿ™‚
And I think that’s how my sewing machine felt too… I don’t think I’ve sewn all summer. And then these last couple weeks it’s been going non stop. ๐Ÿ™‚ Funny how that works, right?

Only one word for that dress: Ah-Do-Rable. Gah, the kid is sure a cutie, but the dress is super. I love it and have several littles in my life who would love it too. Hmmmm, may have to get that sewing machine fixed after all !~! Thanks for sharing the great photos of the princess’s nascent modeling career.
