color your summer 3 with delia creates and kojodesignsFriends, I have to be honest with you. One of the reasons I love the Color Your Summer series so much every year is that my rockstar guests absolutely floor me with their projects. Today is no exception- one of my best girls, Kelly from Sewing in No Man’s Land and Wild Wandering has an a.mazing “over the rainbow” top tutorial to share-

I hand cut the strips of fabric for the top because I couldn’t for the life of me find my rotary cutter. It is a small miracle they line up at all ha!

I know chevron is every where and probably over done but I thought it would be okay to just do one arch, right?

The backs are shirred for maximum comfort and lots of wiggling. Chloe’s was made from scraps I had left over from Evie’s. Thank heavens there was a large enough piece ha!

For Evie’s skirt I did a simply gather stitch with an extra wide waistband and a simply zipper in the back. Chloe’s shorts were made using a tweak Dana of Made‘s new shorts pattern. I used the 5T size then added an extra 6 or 7 inches at the top. I underestimated the chunkiness of Chloe’s belly and probably should have added another inch or two to both the top and the shorts ha! It just kept popping out!

The carnival had just arrived on Sunday to the Jardin De Tuileries and we were so excited to have an excuse to get all dressed up and head down.

Every time I saw their bright rainbow covered outfits it made me smile. And lots and lots of tourists smile too!

Both their hair bows are felt and you can find my personal tutorial (yup, there are millions) HERE.

Cotton candy is called barba papa or daddy’s beard in France and this was Chloe’s first time having it. She was a big fan! Evie just likes to pose with it ha!

Afterwards as a treat (since she doesn’t go for the barba papa) Evie got her face painted!

Yay for even more rainbows!!!

Thank you Kirstin and Jordan for having me and I can’t wait to see all the rest of the bright and beautiful creations! Be sure to hop over to Sewing In No Mans Land for lots of fun projects and Wild Wandering for our crazy adventures living in Europe.

Happy summer!

Kelly
