red (white and blue) tutorial- patriotic pinwheel wreath

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

I’ve mentioned before my love for the Fourth of July. Its such a fabulous holiday! This year, being so far from home, I think I have been overcompensating by making more 4th crafts and decor than ever before. We may have even sung the Star Spangled Banner last night during our night time routine instead of the usual kid songs and hymns. How else will my girlies ever learn it?

This wreath is the perfect patriotic flare for any door- and you still have time to make one for your door before the fourth! Just put on a movie tonight and by the end, you’ll have a pile of pinwheels ready to glue onto a wreath.

Here’s what you’ll need:

scrapbook paper in red, white and blue

a large piece of cardboard or foam board, cut into a wreath shape.

some star confetti (or rhinestones, or buttons would look cute too)

Step 1:

make a bunch of mini pinwheels. I usedย this tutorial, but I made 8 “large”, 4 “medium” and 5 “small” ones.

The large ones were about 4 inch strips of paper, the mediums were 3 inch strips and the smalls were 2-2 1/2 inch strips.

Step 2:

Glue the large pinwheels onto the cardboard

Step 3:

Arrange the medium and small pinwheels to cover the gaps and glue on top of the large ones. (Optional: glue confetti or buttons onto the centers of each pinwheel)

Step 4:

Add ribbon, hang on your gate and sing the national anthem while taking pictures. A man on a bike may slow to a halt to stare at you, but you’ll be so pleased with your wreath, you won’t care.

Ok, maybe that last part just happens to me. ๐Ÿ™‚ Happy 4th everyone. Stay tuned tomorrow for our big 4th of July bash!
