Today’s guests, the lovely Kelli and Kristi from Lolly Jane, are quite the pair. They have great ideas (I want to start a Welcome Summer tradition like this one), celebrate holidays with fabulous flair (love this universal birthday banner) and share our love for the Hunger Games (this ombre sign is fantastic). They are also the queens of “Sprucing Your Space,” (aren’t these bathroom mason jars and pallet state art great?). Seriously, love these girls!
And today they’re here with a fabulous, orange-y tutorial for us!
Hi friends!
We are Kelli & Kristi of Lolly Jane, an eclectic DIY craft blog, and are simply thrilled to be a part of the Color Your Summer II series!
Our Arizona summers are hot hot hot and we cool off during the day poolside but our nights are spent on the porch sipping Diet Coke lemonade and watching the kiddies play in the yard.  We recently spruced up Kelli’s porch and thought these orange burlap mason jars were the perfect finishing touch to display the wild flowers our little ones constantly pick for us:

To make your own you’ll need just a few things… all of which we had lying around the house, {love that!}

1. Supplies: Mason jars, Burlap, Scrap ribbon, Scissors, Hot Glue
2. Cut burlap into 3 wide strips, {roughly 4″ for the large mason jar, 3″ for the smaller one.}
3. Wrap burlap around mason jar, securing with a dab of hot glue.  Tie orange ribbon around burlap.
4. Slice oranges and drop into bottom of jars.
Now that the mason jars are blinged out, simply add a few inches of water and fill with pretty flowers:

These jars would be so pretty in any hue…
red ribbon with strawberry slices, blue ribbon with blueberries, yellow ribbon with lemon slices, etc.  They would make great centerpieces for a baby or bridal shower, too, don’t you think?
For now, though, we are simply enjoying the pop of color added to Kelli’s porch 🙂

Be sure to stop by the ‘ol blog to say HELLO sometime or chat with us on FB, Twitter or Pinterest.  Happy summer!

xoxo
Kelli & Kristi
