anthropologie knock-off flutter curtains (SYTYCS week 2)

January 10, 2012

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

“Make new curtains for the living room,” has been on my to do list for months. Anthropologie’s Tender Falls Shower Curtain has been on my pinterest for about that long. Plus, I compulsively buy white sheets at Ikea. And this week’s theme for SYTYCS is “Repurposed.” Match made in heaven? I think yes.

But back to my unfortunate Ikea white-sheet-buying compulsion. Every time I go to that store (which is more often than I care to admit), I try to resist the “Knoppa” sheets. It’s like they call to me, though, y’all- whispering to me about their plethora of potential uses (especially now that RIT sent me all that wonderful dye!). Plus they’re $4. So, without fail, one ends up in my cart. As you can see, I have a similar problem at thrift stores with vintage sheets as well.

That being said, finding the perfect use for all of those sheets feels great! Plus, Adam is thrilled that I depleted my white-sheet-stash and even more thrilled that I didn’t spend $118 at Anthropologie (well, that guy is as even keeled as they come, so thrilled might be a stretch… but you know what I mean).

Best of all, when I walk into the living room and see the fluttery loveliness, I am smitten with my new curtains. Add a pajama’d Smooch to the mix and they’re perfection.

ps- “Redecorate living room using only items we already own” is at the top of my 2012 Bucket List, so you’re sure to see more of this room in the coming months. Do you have any redecorating on the docket?

ppss- The tutorial is finished and here!

I love the curtains and could really use them in my living room as well. I need a soft contrast to my black leather sofa. That must have taken ages to sew on all of those little pieces.
I am doing a lot of redecorating in my home. The first room I just posted: the master bath.

I’ll add the link to this post- it’s http://mommybydaycrafterbynight.blogspot.com/2012/01/so-you-think-you-can-sew-week-2-project_11.html. And the anthro shower curtain is the one I was copying.

Melissa, I got them both at Target! 🙂 Though, the chevron one was part of one of those rotating ‘threshold’ aisles, though, so it might not be easy to find.
