First of all, Happy Mother’s Day to all of you mama’s out there. I hope you have a day of feeling pampered and loved and celebrated!

And even though I feel more blessed than I can tell you to have my two little punkins, I have had a heavy heart this weekend.

Part of it is that this time last year was so terribly difficult for our family, and I think going through the beginning of May again brings a lot of that to the surface. Gosh I miss Adam’s dad, y’all. Our life still has a noticeable hole where his presence was.

On top of that, I just keep thinking about all of you out there who, like Josh and Elise, are in the process of adopting, or who’ve gone through miscarriages or infertility, or who’ve lost your mom already. I think this holiday must be pretty difficult for a lot of people. I sure wish I could give you a hug, friends. Know that I’ve been praying for all of you all weekend and I’ll just keep praying today. I’m so sorry that today is rough for you.

All of this to say, I really do hope you have a blessed day, even if your heart is a little heavy today too.

  1. I am so sorry for your loss. My grandmother died from cancer in the fall and it has been hard on our whole family especially my grandpa. I do try to think that it was better that she did go instead of suffering.

Then just a month ago my other grandma broke both her legs and it was hard on her but she is doing much better. I wrote about her in these two posts.

  2. So sorry to hear of your loss! I cant imagine losing someone so close. Happy Mother's Day! And a big, huge hug from me to you for thinking of those of us who struggle every Mother's Day. It is just a day long of mourning the could have beens for the baby we miscarried and the child we had so hoped to adopt and wondering when I will finally join the ranks as someones mother. Bless you for your thoughtfullness to someone you have never met, who you have helped so much and inspired with your kindness. May God wrap you in his arms and comfort you when you feel sad or miss your father in law. I KNOW you will see him again someday. Much love, E

  4. I was so touched when our pastor shared a similar prayer for all who are burdened with sorrow on a day we all think of as only joyous. I know that my joyous day today is one to cherish…..we all walk days that will be sorrowful too. I pray for you and for all others who have a heavy heart.

  5. Howdy girls~ Well I've not been in blog land for a while so I'm catching up on your posts. My dad passed away on April 20 (heart failure) and it's been very difficult. I think my body is reacting to this sad time (no need for details) To ditto what Elise said thank you for thinking about us who have tried to have a baby and have had trouble and especially those of us who lost a loved one around this time….Thanks girls y'all rock!
