I have been smitten with bamboo silverware ever since I saw it as part of a laid back, picnic-y wedding in a Martha Stewart Wedding magazine onceuponatime. It’s like the hat trick of cutlery- it looks great, it’s easier on the environment, and the possibilities for customization are endless.
Those endless possibilities (plus Piper’s recent fascination with water colors) were the catalyst for these sets of painted wooden silverware that we ended up using for our last minute mini birthday party.
The wood helps the watercolors to blend, so all you need is a diagonal stripe of yellow (be sure to start your line of painting well away from the part of the silverware that will be put in the mouth), another of orange, and another of red. With a couple dots of water to blend the edges together and some time to dry, you’re finished!
Since these could match every color palette possible (and since we have watercolors out almost every day), I see us making several more sets of these in the future! Aren’t they fun?
