DIY pom pom ornaments (anthropologie inspired)

DIY pom pom ornaments
DIY pom pom ornaments

Even though there isn’t an Anthropologie here in New Zealand, I still LOVE perusing their Christmas goodies online (so much gorgeousness). And they have the best pom pom Christmas ornaments every year!

DIY pom pom ornaments

So of course, we DIYed a whole pile of pom pom ornaments for our Christmas tree.

It seems sort of silly to put a pom pom Christmas ornament tutorial together (just grab a pom pom maker and make a pile of pom poms to tie on the tree).

I do have a bunch of tips for y’all, though, to make these full, fluffy, gorgeous anthro-esque pom pom ornaments-

-use as much yarn as you can fit on the pom pom maker (wrap and wrap and wrap some more)

-add different colors of yarn, being cogniscent of color placement (an extra dose of the more neutral colors goes a long way here)

-trim, trim, trim, trim and then trim some more! I think this is where to magic happens. Little teeny scissors are your best friend here. When you’ve overloaded the pom pom maker (which, as noted, do!), your initial pom pom is a shaggy mess. Once you trim and trim and trim, the pom pom ornament is perfection!

Doesn’t it make you want to get out a pom pom maker and make a whole pile of anthro-y ornaments?

For now, our mantel has a row of vases with fluffy pom pom topped branches- it’s really simple, but I love the texture of the pom poms, especially in contrast with the exposed brick behind them. […]

sprinkled with love birthday party

We laughed when Piper Jane asked for a “Sprinkle” themed birthday party. Her sweet tooth is renowned in these parts (second only to her mama’s), so a sprinkle party is perfectly suited for the Little Miss Priss’ second birthday celebration. Decked out in some sprinkle accessories- a sprinkle barrette and sprinkle corsage- the birthday girl […]

how to make pom pom name pennant

how to make a name from pom poms

This little banner has made the move from above-the-crib decor to Burke’s ‘big boy room,’ and I love it! Want to make one of your own? To make this string-of-goodness, you’ll need: -yarn in your palette -Goodwill-bound tshirts in your palette (optional) -a pom pom maker -floral wire or craft wire -coordinating felt (a few […]
