watercolor painted wooden silverware

add watercolor paint to wooden/bamboo silverware for perfectly customized party cutlery!

add watercolor paint to wooden/bamboo silverware for perfectly customized party cutlery!I have been smitten with bamboo silverware ever since I saw it as part of a laid back, picnic-y wedding in a Martha Stewart Wedding magazine onceuponatime. It’s like the hat trick of cutlery- it looks great, it’s easier on the environment, and the possibilities for customization are endless.

"mini birthday party" kid's table (put together in 45 minutes with on-hand supplies!)Those endless possibilities (plus Piper’s recent fascination with water colors) were the catalyst for these sets of painted wooden silverware that we ended up using for our last minute mini birthday party.

add watercolor paint to wooden/bamboo silverware for perfectly customized party cutlery! The wood helps the watercolors to blend, so all you need is a diagonal stripe of yellow (be sure to start your line of painting well away from the part of the silverware that will be put in the mouth), another of orange, and another of red. With a couple dots of water to blend the edges together and some time to dry, you’re finished!

"mini birthday party" kid's table (put together in 45 minutes with on-hand supplies!)Since these could match every color palette possible (and since we have watercolors out almost every day), I see us making several more sets of these in the future! Aren’t they fun?

"mini birthday party" kid's table (put together in 45 minutes with on-hand supplies!)

As you probably know, I pretty much love pulling out all the stops for kid’s birthday parties. Give me a Donut Bar or sparkly treat table to put together and I’m a happy girl. And don’t get me started about my unquenchable love for favors (and the direct result of that love- overstuffed favor bags […]

evie’s ‘bow-tique’ birthday party

bowtique party

The timing of our trip to visit Jordan and her family was perfect- we arrived the night before Evie’s third birthday and got to be there for her birthday party (lucky us!). Evie’s bow themed birthday party was inspired by her love of Minnie Mouse’s “Bow-tique.” MENU All of Evie’s favorite foods made their way […]

garden tea birthday party

garden tea birthday party

My girls are the ultimate party planners and love to come up with themes for their birthday parties. As I mentioned, for Keadryn’s sixth birthday she decided she wanted a garden party (not a gardening party, but a tea party in the garden like they have in Britain). I have no idea where she got […]

madeline in paris birthday party

madeline in paris birthday party

Piper Jane is absolutely smitten with Paris and Madeline (the children’s books by Ludwig Bemelmans) and has been asking for a Madeline party since, well, since her Sprinkle Party last year! And what a fun party to put together! After the Denver shower, and now this Paris party, I am fully in love with locale-based […]

farmer’s market birthday party

market party

Our Littlest Miss, Evie Kate, is turning two this month. Of course, a Happy Second Birthday Party was an order. Evie’s very favorite thing is our local grocery store (in the middleeast), “Lulu’s.” And since birthday parties are the perfect chance to celebrate the affections of the teeniest guest of honor, ‘market party’ became our […]

kung fu panda birthday party

panda birthday party

So this party happened in June. And we’re just getting the pictures up now. Better late than never, right? Have I mentioned that I love it when Jordan and I have the chance to throw parties together? Since there is this giant, pesky ocean between us, it doesn’t happen much. But when we are together, […]

bicycle birthday party (in aqua, red and pink)

bicycle themed birthday party

Both Burke and Piper Jane adore our friend from church, Miss Hazel (they tell me a hundred times a day, “Baby Hazel so cu-ute!”). And I love Hazel’s mama, Liz (of retro garden baby shower fame- she was the mama-to-be). So helping Liz put together Hazel’s bicycle birthday party was a super fun joint venture! […]

sayla’s puppy party

puppy party

As I said yesterday, Sayla requested a puppy for her birthday (I think Kead set her up to it), but we are not at a place in our lives to add a new family member so we opted for a puppy party instead. It was a fabulous success. I mean, little girls staring out the […]
