I mentioned last week that I am working on adding a few special items to Piper Jane’s back to school wardrobe. This dress, sewn using the five and ten designs e-book Volume 1, is one of those items.
This dress is extra dear to my heart. Piper Jane and I went to Fancy Tiger (a fabulous local fabric store) and Pi chose the fabric for the dress (she has a good eye, right?). Then, I let her look through the five and ten e-book (there are ten fabulous dresses, all gorgeous, all using the same basic pattern block). She chose number five (aka- ‘the one with the pockets’).
Of course, since she chose the fabric and chose the design, she was over the moon excited for this dress. In fact, she stood next to the sewing machine (or sat on my lap) for most of my sewing. And she is in love with the end result.
As am I.
Not only does Piper Jane have a darling new back to school dress in her wardrobe, I learned a couple of new sewing techniques. And since there are nine more patterns in the ebook, I have a lot more sewing to do (Piper Jane has already chosen the Storyboek fabric for her next dress).
I really love the idea behind the Five and Ten ebook– ten different (and did I mention fabulous?) dresses, all using the same bodice blocks. Seriously- fantastic! Fingers crossed that the designation ‘Volume 1’ indicates that there are more of these ebooks in the works.
