50+ tried-and-true ideas for the BEST favorite things gift basket

how to put together the BEST favorite things gift basket

A couple weeks ago, it was a friend’s birthday here in NZ. And I had SO much fun putting together a “Favorite Things” gift basket for her.

(It’s funny- I always make the mistake of assuming our kiwi friends have heard of/know about all our favorite things. But turns out, many of these items that we rave about either just aren’t popular, haven’t made the long trek across the ocean to New Zealand, or they’re so expensive here that people haven’t tried them out.)

That made it even more fun to assemble this Favorite Things Gift Basket!

And, actually, one of my favorite parts was the brainstorming of “favorite things” that I could include. Once I got started, it was hard to stop (turns out, I *really* love kind of alot of things). You could pretty much choose any five or six items from this list and assemble a FABULOUS gift basket for your bestie or your mama or your sister (or even your kiddos’ teacher!).

DIY mini bath bombs

DIY mini bath bombs- the cutest little DIY gift for everyone on your list!

We are starting to make our Christmas lists around here, which is pretty much my favorite. We do two sets of lists- lists of things we’d like to receive for Christmas, but then also lists of everyone that we want to surprise with a gift this year and ideas of what they might like. We love […]

DIY gilded jewelry holder

how to make a gilded shell jewelry holder

I might’ve mentioned once or twice- the beach is my happy place. And I am always looking for ways to bring the beach into our house (in Saipan, and then to use as beachy, Saipan-y reminders when we move back stateside). These gilded jewelry holders made from large shells are the perfect beachy home accessory. […]

easiest ever maxi dress

This maxi dress is the easiest sewing project ever- just four rectangles and a few lines of stitching!

I live in maxi dresses. I mean, I wore lots of dresses in my pre-Saipan life, but now I only have shorts (and one lone pair of jeans) as a formality. Like someday maybe I’ll look in my closet and think, “Yep, today’s the day- I’m not going to wear a dress.” I’ve seen several […]

DIY anthropologie inspired leather belt (so easy to make AND would make a great gift!)

Ever since we arrived on Saipan, I’ve been plotting to have family pictures taken on the beach. However, when I finally put together that our fall travels would require our pictures to be taken at the end of October, I had approximately one week left to piece together our outfits. You know where this is […]

flowy tunic with french seams

dolman tunic tutorial

We’ve mentioned that Jord’s wardrobe requirements in the Middleeast are, well, different from what she wears in the States. So while Jord was Stateside last month, we did a little tunic sewing- tunics that are long, flowy and best of all, super simple to put together. Want to make one too?
