We’re Kirstin and Jordan, the sister team that blogs here. We love the world of DIY and design and love having a spot to share our various creative pursuits. Since we live halfway around the world from each other, kojodesigns is our spot for ‘creative collaboration.’

Jordan’s kitchen is the backdrop for many a crafty cooking experiment, which is only compounded by her lack of access to many commonly used (American) ingredients. She’s just begun a Making Do series, focused on sharing ways to creatively bake/cook/plan parties/craft without access Big Box stores (stay tuned). She can also almost always be found behind the lens of a camera and occasionally shares little glimpses of her life-across-the-ocean (those posts are labeled “Hyatti,” which means My Life in Arabic).

Kirstin’s expensive taste and shoestring budget has lead to a proliferation of Knock-Off projects- everything from Anthropologie-esque duvets to J Crew-y shoes. When she’s not redecorating or frequenting local estate sales and thrift stores, she can be found parked behind her sewing machine (where she’s sloooooowly learning to sew, courtesy of YouTube and the sewing machine manual).

We both love nothing more than putting together a kickin’ party or shower (baby shower or bridal shower- either one) and dance around with joy whenever we have a chance to hostess together. As you can imagine, that’s kind of rare right now (the co-hostessing, not the dancing). Jordan is perfecting the art of putting together events with the most basic of supplies while Kirstin is keeping her inner-event-coordinator busy planning baby showers for the current ‘baby boom’ amongst their friends.

Jordan, her hot hubbie Drew, and her three girls (Keadryn, Sayla and Evelyn) have a life that’s sort of movie-esque- filled with travel and adventure. They live in the Middleeast, speak multiple languages, vacation in exotic locales, and basically live out the What-If’s that the rest of us think about but don’t pursue.

And Kirst is married to a financial-analyst-turned-dentist. After years of making a Crazy Budget happen during dental school, she still has trouble spending more than a dollar on a box of cereal. And as she strolls through Target or the grocery store with her two fair blondies (Burke and Piper Jane) in tow, Kirst is sometimes asked, “Are you the nanny?” Haha!

Other fun facts about us- Jordan loves salty treats, Kirst loves sweets, Kirstin’s favorite season is summer and Jord’s is fall (or maybe winter), Jord would live in a hoodie and jeans if she could, Kirstin would wear a sundress every day if the weather permitted.

In our pre-baby lives Kirstin taught elementary school in a Title I school and Jord gallivanted around the world, living in exotic places and learning Spanish and Arabic (hmmm, that life sort of continues, really). Oh, and we both LOVE travelling, Jesus, dark chocolate, happy hour at Sonic and being in the mountains.
