sad day

He is close to the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3The birth mom has changed her mind- we will not be adopting her baby girl after all.

I hate writing those words, hate the heart break our family is grappling with right now, hate knowing that the “explosion of baby girl stuff” that currently occupies every corner of our home will not ever meet it’s intended owner…

I know that there is redemption on the horizon, that my God is the One who redeems heartbreak, and that the Binder of Wounds is near to me, to Adam, to our kids. I also know that He is good, and that He has good things for us (and for this baby girl and her family). Leaning in to Him today and as we move forward.

  1. So sad to hear this! We went through this exact same situation 33 years ago. Praying that God will bring comfort and healing to your family. Psalm 31:24

    1. Thank you Carolyn. It is oddly comforting when others have gone through the same thing. I’d never wish this pain into anyone’s story, and yet it is so encouraging to hear that you did this and made it. 😉 Thanks for praying!

  2. I have been through the very same thing twice. It’s so very hard. Praying for your family during this time.

  3. I am so sorry for your pain. God is weaving a beautiful story in your family, and the human part of me wishes we could just rush to the happy ending. But He is not done yet, and I can’t wait to read what He writes. For now, I pray and grieve for you.

    1. What a beautiful way to say this- I am wishing to rush to the happy ending as well. And yet, there is so much beauty here, even in the pain. Thank you for praying, and for grieving alongside us.

  4. I’m so so sorry to hear this. I was afraid this was the case after your posts on IG. :(. Thankful for the Lords loving embrace to hold your whole family during this time. And thankful that your story is still being written and He is faithful to work all things together for good!!! Prayers for y’all my friend!!

    1. Thanks Leigh Anne! Yes, it’s been quite a month… We thought this might be her final answer (hence, instagram) but were hoping it’d end up differently. And even though it hasn’t, you are so right, it IS still being written, and He IS working. Thank you so much for praying!

  5. Well, shoot. I am so sorry for your pain but pray that baby girl is where she’s supposed to be. I was so excited for your family & will pray for your healing as well.

  6. I’m so sorry for your family. This happened to my cousin as well. But they continued to search to make their family complete and were blessed with another baby that did make it completely through the adoption process. So don’t give up! Those baby girl things might not go to ‘that’ baby girl, but it doesn’t mean that they won’t find their way to ‘the’ baby girl they were meant for!

    1. Thanks for the encouragement, Louise! We know God has brought us to this point and will continue to carry us… hoping our story ends up like your cousins’!
