the golden satchel- a leather tote and a giveaway

December 11, 2013

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

gold leather satchel- everything bag with tons of storage and padded laptop pocket (tutorial to come shortly!)Once upon a time, long, long ago, I made Jord an ‘everything bag.’ It was made to be a diaper bag and camera bag in one. As the years have progressed, that little (ok, giant) tote wandered its way through two babies and a move across the ocean. Its most recent function is a laptop bag and international travel carry on. However, as you probably can imagine, it has sustained quite the wear and tear over the years.

DIY leather satchelEnter The Leather Hide Store. When they contacted me about possibly partnering with them on a project and giveaway, I had the perfect project in mind- a new, extra durable ‘everything bag’ for Jord, with tons of storage, a padded laptop pocket, a sturdy handle and some fabulous styling.ย I’d pinned this messenger bag as inspiration and (after selecting some gorgeous gold leather), got right to work.

handmade leather toteI have to say, I absolutely loved working with this leather from The Leather Hide Store. It is soft and pliable to the touch, is easy to sew with (especially compared to vinyl/pleather), and is just gorgeous. I am so excited to be sending Jord such a durable (and gorgeous!) gift.

Rebecca, such a fun giveaway, right??? ๐Ÿ™‚ And the learning curve is small- grab yourself a leather needle and some binder clips (to use instead of pins) and sew slowly… that’s about it. ๐Ÿ™‚ Fingers crossed for you!

    Oh Kirstin,
I NEED to win this! and I already have leather needles… I bought them yesterday because I am going to make a bag and wanted it to have a leather bottom for added durability. Now I am just looking for feet for the bottom of the bag… just imagine this, vintage fabric interior, vintage grain sack, and brown leather bottom! Doesn’t it just make your heart swoon thinking about it!!?!!

Have a wonderful day! Oh I have got to e-mail you!!!! prayer request… in email.

Haha, thanks Wendy! Since bags are all straight lines (and since I am certain your sewing ability surpasses mine), I’m certain you’d be a pro in no time, like after making one bag. ๐Ÿ™‚
