If you read about the vintage children’s book Sip ‘n See, you might’ve got the “I’m in love with Mimosa Bar” vibe. It’s true. I am.

Among the many, many fabulous Mimosa Bar features, “SO EASY” tops the list! You could add this to any brunch you’re putting together- from a casual get together to a baby shower or Sip ‘n See.

And to make things just a wee bit easier on you, I thought I’d put together a Mimosa Bar How To, complete with every thing you’ll need to make your own Mimosa Bar (even a shopping list).

DIY Mimosa Bar wares-

-one ice bucket (mine is rather large- all five bottles of bubbley fit in there) with ice

-three or four glass dishes for fruit (we used the rectangular ones from Ikea)

-three or four glass juice bottles (again, Ikea)

-juice labels

-glasses (one per guest)

Optional- an ornate frame and a “Mimosas” pennant (I just freehanded mine on coordinating paper)

Optional- other decor (bunting, pom poms, etc.)

DIY Mimosa Bar shopping list

-champagne

-sparkling cider

-orange juice (you could make homemade, or Simply Orange works great)

-grapefruit juice (same)

-raspberry lemonade concentrate

-two pints strawberries

-1/2 lb. rhubarb

-raspberries, blueberries, blackberries (for mix ins)

-pineapple (for mix ins)

-ice

To do the night before-

-Make all juice (strawberry lemonade, strawberry rhubarb juice, etc.- the Strawberry Rhubarb Juice recipe is here- http://sipsetc.blogspot.com/2012/03/mmm-march-mimosa-mondays-strawberry_18.html)

-Pour all juice into glass bottles and keep refrigerated

-Label all juice bottles (we tied these on the night before and kept them on the bottles in the fridge overnight and they were fine- no warping)

-Chill champagne and sparkling cider

-Set out ice bucket (without ice) and glasses

-Hang your “Mimosas” sign, frame, pom poms, bunting and other decor

To do the morning of-

-Fill all the glass dishes with fruit and set out

-Fill the ice bucket with ice

-Set out the juice, champagne, and sparkling cider

Funny story- I kept making myself little tiny ‘mini-mosas’ (just a sip or two in size) so that I could try more of the variations. I loved the Spring Break Mimosa (with berry lemonade) and the Ruby June (with rhubarb strawberry juice)! Even better, the Sparkling Peach made for all sorts of great combinations- I liked it even better than the champagne.

  1. do you print your labels (cupcake toppers/signs/invitations) yourself? i don’t want to ask you to give away all your secrets (or will i?) but would you please consider doing a how to post on all this stuff?

p.s. my pinterest board has been updated appropriately. 😉

      1. Could I possibly borrow the labels from you for a bridal shower in a week?? could you PDF them to me in color? I LOVE them!!! Thank you… my shower is light pink and teal blue 🙂 perfect!!! jill

  2. This is not only brilliant, but SO cute! I love it and can’t wait to try it in the future. I’ve been craving a mimosa lately but haven’t had a good excuse to have one, but now I do 🙂 Thank you!

  3. I love this! I haven’t ever seen sparkling peach juice but I will keep a look out – the perfect idea for nursing or pregnant mommas!

I’d also love one of those Green Works gift cards… with two dogs and an 8-week old, I need all the help I can get when it comes to cleaning! 🙂

    1. Hey Rebecca! I found the peach juice at Target- just in case you wanted to look. 🙂
And you DO need all the help you can get. 🙂 Rest up, sweet friend!

  4. The mimosa bar is such a cute idea! I might have to have one of these at a party soon.

For the Green Works gift cards, I would just like to say that I am currently doing a complete rehaul of all of my cleaning supplies. I have extreme chemical allergies that have been getting worse, mostly in relation to cleaning supplies. Finding all natural cleaners for a house can get pretty interesting and the ones out there aren’t the cheapest, especially when you need an all new set of them!

    1. Meredith, you’re right- green cleaning products aren’t cheap! But totally worth it right (especially if you have chemical allergies- YUCK!).

  5. I’ve previously tried the Green Works and loved it. Thanks for the recommendation. And the Mimosa Bar looks like such a fun idea!

    1. Hey Lori, we have a ‘behind the scenes party’ series coming up later this summer. The short answer is Powerpoint. 🙂
Also, we’ve had so many requests for these particular labels that they’re in the etsy shop for $5 right now (they’re blank so you can make them to suit your menu)- http://www.kojodesigns.etsy.com.
      Thanks for checking in!

  6. Love this idea – it’s adorable! Sometimes we put out triple sec and orangina for our mimosas, it makes the original orange/champagne sparkle a little more!

    1. We had about that many people here as well- I had four bottles of champagne and four ikea bottles of juice (however, not all of it was gone when people left). 🙂 Hope that helps!

  7. we’re having a baby shower for my sister and i would love to use the tags you used for your mimosa bar! where did you find that art that is used on the tags?

  8. Hello! I just wanted to say your mimosa bar and shopping list is one of the better ones I have seen on Pinterest. I did have a question and didn’t see it mentioned or while I was scanning your other commenters’ questions.

Did you leave out toothpicks or spoons for the guests to funnel the fruit into their drink glasses? I didn’t see anything about that mentioned and I don’t think they used their hands.

    Thanks in advance!

  9. Having a bridal shower and setting up a mimosa bar. Where can I get the recipe for the Strawberry Rhubarb juice? Sounds Yummy

    1. I think we had little nails for hanging a frame already in that wall and just hung the empty frame on those. Hope that helps!

  10. Hello!
    Thank you for the tricks!
I can’t seem to find your printables on your etsy shop anymore… Any hint for that?
    Regards,
    Natai

  11. Can I buy just your picture (png or jpg) of the frame and mimosa sign? I want to use it in an invitation and love the colors and layout!
    Thanks!
    Gail

  12. This is super cute, and I am trying to find the pom poms you used in the pictures, but I can only find basic pom poms. Do you remember where you got them by chance? Thanks!

    1. Hey Emily- a friend made them for me (didn’t she do a great job?)… Sorry that doesn’t help you find them!

  15. Hello! We are having 55 people for a Sunday afternoon bridal shower. How much champagne is needed for a mimosa bar? I signed up for the mimosa bar not realizing just how expensive champagne is. Have you tried a mimosa bar with sparkling wine? The party will be only a few hours long and we are having sub sandwiches. Maybe a bottle of vodka to mix with the different juices will offset the amount of champagne bottles? Thanks for your advice!

    1. Hey Sue, I usually buy both sparkling cider and champagne (a few bottles of each). For 55 people, you’ll probably need a few more. You could also try sparkling wine? Let me know how it goes!

  23. I love doing a mimosa bar. Any fruit juice goes with sparkling, I think. I made small skewers of berries as swizzle sticks. Warning: one combo to steer clear of…fresh pineapple makes the champagne fizz a lot and typically overflows the glasses making a mess. Enjoy
